BMW begins the celebrations for the anniversary of its Art Car Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Team WRT returns to the Mount Panorama Circuit this weekend. After the one-two victory in the 2025 12-hour race, the team will once again compete in the traditional endurance classic. <\/p>\n\n

In the run-up to the 2026 season, BMW M Motorsport has unveiled a special design concept in addition to Team WRT’s driver line-up. One of the two BMW M4 GT3 cars will be given a special livery inspired by BMW Art Car #8. This car was designed by Australian artist Ken Done. <\/p>\n\n

The replica of the historic design will be seen on the BMW M4 GT3 with starting number 32. The car will be driven by Jordan Pepper, Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts. The special livery is part of the worldwide activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the BMW Art Car Collection. Since its foundation in 1975, numerous BMW racing cars have been designed by internationally renowned artists. <\/p>\n\n

Ken Done explained in connection with the project that his original design was inspired in particular by strong colors and dynamic shapes to visually depict movement and speed. The Mount Panorama Circuit is a suitable setting for this. <\/p>\n\n

The original BMW Art Car by Ken Done was created in 1989, based on a BMW M3 Group A in which Jim Richards won the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1987. The current homage thus ties in with a historical reference to Australian motorsport. <\/p>\n\n

Another anniversary is coming up in 2026: 40 years before the BMW M3 was presented for the first time. Since 1986, the model has established itself over several generations as a sporty vehicle in both road and racing. <\/p>\n\n

The Art Car Tribute will celebrate its competition debut at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, which will take place from February 13 to 15, 2026 at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales.<\/p>\n\n
