Jack Aitken will no longer compete in the DTM for Emil Frey Racing in the 2026 season. The 30-year-old Briton is thus ending a five-year chapter with the Swiss racing team, which has significantly shaped his career after Formula 1 (the Briton contested an F1 race for Williams in 2020). In future, his sporting focus will be on endurance racing: Aitken will be part of the Cadillac program in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2026. <\/p>\n\n
Aitken has been active in touring car and GT racing for Emil Frey Racing since 2021 and has become a permanent fixture in the team during this time. In an emotional farewell statement, he looked back on the years together, which were characterized by sporting successes, intensive cooperation, but also by difficult phases. He particularly emphasized the close human bond within the team, which went far beyond pure racing. <\/p>\n\n
A formative experience during his time at Emil Frey Racing was the serious accident at the 24 Hours of Spa 2021. Aitken was hospitalized at the time and, looking back, emphasized the extraordinary support from the team, especially from team boss Lorenz Frey-Hilti, who personally stood by him in this situation. For Aitken, this event symbolizes the strong cohesion within the team. <\/p>\n\n
Lorenz Frey-Hilti had already stated in the course of the announcement of the extended Cadillac commitment that Aitken would no longer play a role in the Ferrari team’s future DTM plans. The parallel involvement in two top-class endurance series with an LMDh programme was not compatible with a DTM commitment from an organizational and sporting point of view – even if there were no direct date overlaps. <\/p>\n\n
With the departure of Jack Aitken, Emil Frey Racing is losing a long-standing top performer, while Aitken himself is embarking on a new chapter in his career in international endurance racing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
