Proton Competition will not field a Porsche 963 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in the 2026 season. According to the team, the intensive discussions of recent weeks have come to nothing. <\/p>\n\n
The background to this is the changed framework conditions following the withdrawal of Porsche Penske Motorsport from the FIA WEC. As a result, Proton Competition had tried to find a starting opportunity with two Porsche 963s. However, no agreement was reached on a private car entry. <\/p>\n\n
In a statement, team owner Christian Ried thanks the partners and supporters involved for their commitment during the negotiations. He also regrets that the team will not be represented with the 963 in the FIA WEC or the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2026. <\/p>\n\n
Proton Competition had entered a Porsche 963 in the hypercar class in 2025 and achieved several notable race results. The eye-catching F.A.T. design also made the car a popular motif among fans and photographers. <\/p>\n\n
Ried also emphasizes the support of partners such as Ferdi Porsche and F.A.T., Mustang Sampling as well as Ken and Brenda Thompson. The ACO and LMEM also encouraged the team to stay in the championship right up to the end. <\/p>\n\n
The decision only affects the planned 963 entry for 2026, other programs with Porsche cars remain unchanged. As usual, Proton Competition will review and re-evaluate its deployment planning before each season. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
