Hans-Joachim Stuck turns 75 years old

Former racing driver Hans-Joachim Stuck celebrates his 75th birthday today. He is one of the best-known and most successful personalities in German and international motorsport and can look back on an extraordinarily varied career spanning several decades.

Born on January 1, 1951, he was practically born into racing: His father Hans Stuck Sr. was already one of the big names in motorsport in the 1930s. However, Hans-Joachim Stuck developed his own profile early on and established himself as a top driver in a wide variety of racing series from the 1970s onwards.

After initial successes in formula racing and touring car racing, Stuck competed in Formula 1 between 1974 and 1979. He achieved international fame and lasting success primarily in endurance and touring car racing. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice with Porsche (1986 and 1987) and was thus part of one of the brand’s most influential sports car eras.

Stuck also celebrated several overall victories in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, one of the most demanding endurance races in the world. He also set standards in touring car racing: in 1990, he won the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). He also won the BMW Procar Series, in which Formula 1 drivers and touring car specialists competed against each other on identical equipment.

Hans-Joachim Stuck was characterized by his precise driving style, his technical expertise and his ability to drive vehicles consistently and reliably at the limit over long distances. These qualities made him a sought-after driver for works assignments and a formative figure in international motorsport.

After the end of his active racing career, Stuck remained closely involved in motorsport. As a brand ambassador, consultant and commentator, he continues to contribute his experience and passion to this day and enjoys a high reputation in the scene.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the motorsport world pays tribute to a personality who has decisively shaped German motor racing over the decades and represented it internationally.
