Ferrari celebrates double WEC title – Porsche has no chance at farewell

Home · Ferrari celebrates double WEC title – Porsche has no chance at farewell

Ferrari crowned the 2025 season at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season finale in Bahrain, winning both the manufacturers’ and drivers’ world championship titles. This marks the end of an extremely successful year for the Italians, which had previously brought them overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ferrari dominates the 2025 season

With consistently strong results and two victories in the hypercar class, Ferrari secured first place in the manufacturers’ standings. The trio of Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado won the drivers’ title after finishing fourth in the season finale, clearly relegating the competition to second place. In the final standings, Ferrari scored 245 points, well ahead of Toyota (171) and Porsche (165).

Toyota with one-two victory in Bahrain

The last race of the Year ended with a double victory for Toyota. Nyck de Vries, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway won in the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, continuing the Japanese team’s winning streak at the Bahrain International Circuit – Toyota has been unbeaten there since 2017. The sister car with Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi finished second.
The #50 Ferrari with Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen completed the podium.

Porsche without a chance at the factory farewell

For Porsche, the last race before the announced factory withdrawal was disappointing. The two Porsche 963s only finished 13th and 14th and no longer had a realistic chance in the title fight. After a difficult season, the sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen closes the championship in third place in the manufacturers’ standings.

Kubica narrowly beaten – Ferrari also ahead among private teams

Robert Kubica and his AF Corse team (#83 Ferrari) narrowly missed out on the drivers’ title. After a strong season that included victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson had to settle for second place in the drivers’ standings, but became the best private team of the season.

Schumacher thinks about switching to the IndyCar series

Mick Schumacher finished the season with Alpine in twelfth place in the last race. After a successful IndyCar test, the 26-year-old is considering a switch to the US formula series. According to his own statements, his future is still open.

Button ends career

Former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button announced the end of his active racing career in Bahrain. The Briton completed his last outing in the #38 Cadillac and brought the car home in 16th place after a difficult race.

LMGT3: Manthey-Porsche defends title

The final race in the LMGT3 class was a success for Porsche. Team Manthey EMA defended both the drivers’ and teams’ titles. Richard Lietz, Ryan Hardwick and Ricardo Pera in the #92 Porsche 911 GT3 R finished fourth in Bahrain to win the title again.
The #87 Lexus RC-F GT3 with Clemens Schmid at the wheel took the race win in the class.
